Leading
central vacuum manufacturer, Lindsay Manufacturing, Inc., held
it's 50th Anniversary celebration in Ponca City, OK. In late
September, more than 150 of Lindsay's dealers, suppliers, and
friends gathered to help the Lindsay family celebrate it's 50th
year in business. The three-day convention was an enjoyable mix
of business meetings, recreational activities and social events.
The celebration got underway with
a welcome night cookout at the historic Lew Wentz Camp in Ponca
City. Guests enjoyed the chance to socialize and were
entertained by a historic monologue about camp founder and early
oil baron Lew Wentz, as well as the music and comedy of Clay
Self.
The convention opened the next
day with introductions by company president, Winston Lindsay III
and a brief company history by founder Ed Lindsay. The company
began in 1956 as a manufacturer of heat exchangers called
Thermodynamics, Inc. They soon manufactured their first central
vacuum system for a Kirby salesman in California and became
known as Vacu-Maid, Inc. Vacu-Maid was an early pioneer in the
central vacuum industry, obtaining several patents in the 1960's
and 70's. By the late 1970's, the company had a substantial
dealer network throughout the US into Canada and Australia and
several European countries. The company was renamed Lindsay
Manufacturing in 1987.
The rest of the morning's
agenda included a marketing seminar presented by National Sales
Manager Jeff Simonsen, a product overview of the Vacu-Maid and
AstroVac lines by Winston Lindsay III, a seminar on commercial
systems given by Jason Elmer and Jon Tippin, and a seminar on
System One intercoms, given by Jim Person, Don Owens, and Reed
Snarr of Reed's Built-Ins. Personal factory tours were also
given by Ed Lindsay and Winston "Win" Lindsay IV.
The afternoon included
presentations from Vern Cunningham of Alutron Modules and Denise
Schier, Pete Pavlick, Ken Girt and Alan Neal or Ametek Motors,
as well as a Central Vacuum Installation seminar. The Central
Vacuum Installation seminar, and VDTA Central Vacuum
Installation certification was presented by Dan Phillips of
Central Vacuum Systems, Terry Stephenson of Pro Vac Built In
Vacuums and Vincent Ciernick of A-1 Central Vacuums.
The evening's social event gave
guests the opportunity to sample Oklahoma's Native American
culture at a Pow Wow hosted by the Kaw nation, Osage Nation,
Otoe-Missouri Tribe, Pawnee Tribe, Ponca Nation and Tonawa
Tribe. Hundreds of Native American dancers performed their
people's dances in the newly constructed pavilion at Standing
Bear Native American Memorial Park.
On the last day of the
convention the morning session featured a product update
seminar, a product fair including supplier displays and a dealer
forum.

A
Valet central vacuum system can reduce the amount of allergens
in your home by extracting the dirt, dust, mold, pollen, and pet
dander out of your carpet and furnishings; and it’s simple. It
sends these allergens through the network of hidden tubing in
your walls to the dirt can located in a remote area of your
home, usually the garage. By doing this, the central vacuum
cleaner rids your home of these potentially harmful
irritants--unlike most portable vacuum cleaners, which leave
much of the fine dust re-circulating in the air. Also, by having
a central vacuum vented to the outside of your home, it is
possible to completely remove even the smallest of particles
from your living environment. One unique feature of our Valet
line is that a filter is incorporated into the units for added
protection. These filters provide barriers to trap dust and
allergens down to .3 microns, thus keeping your home dust-free.
We offer a full
range of power units to fit any size home. Valet features a
filter that is incorporated into the units for added protection.
These filters provide barriers to trap dust and allergens down
to .3 microns, thus keeping your home dust-free. There are two
type of filters used. Valet offers paper bag and inverted bag
models. The paper bag power units use a disposable paper bag to
catch the debris. The inverted bags collect the dirt in the
bottom canister. The units are made of durable high
quality galvanized steel construction and are powder coated
for a tough, corrosion-resistant lifetime of use. |
