What Causes Low Suction At The End Of The Hose?

Vacuflo Vacuum systems

If you notice a loss of vacuum suction power, you may have a clog in your vacuum system. However, you should clean the Guard Screen installed in the power unit for True Cyclonic units. This screen should be cleaned every time the dirt canister is emptied. If this is not properly maintained, dirt, dust, and debris can cause the screen to clog and cause low suction power throughout the system. If you have a Maxum Replaceable Bag Unit, please check to ensure your vacuum bag is not full. If the problem persists, please contact your local dealer.

Pull the hose straight out, as you would do with a garden hose, before vacuuming. Installing a hose sock on the hose helps with the kinking. Storing the hose well on the hose rack should also ensure less kinking.

My Hose Is Clogged. How Can I Remove It?

  1. The easiest way is to try to reverse the vacuum by putting the hose handle into the inlet valve. Cup your hand around the handle end and the inlet valve to create a seal.
  2. Press the vacuum hose along the length and try reaching the clog. When you find it, press down on it and knead - this will break it up enough to go through the hose.
  3. Use a dry garden hose and fish it through the end of the hose - this pushes out the clog.
  4. Place a butter knife in your hose and work it through to the obstruction. Shake the hose so that the knife bounces against the clog. This dislodges the obstruction. If the problem continues, contact your local dealer.

Why Static Electricity Builds Up In The Wands?

The shock that you may often feel is static electricity building up in your metal wands. This has nothing to do with electrical wiring and does not mean that anything is wrong with your vacuum system. When vacuuming, electrons from the picked dust particles build up in the wands as static electricity, and when it jumps from the wand, it creates a shock. To avoid this, simply hold a portion of your hand or finger on the metal wand. This allows the charge to dissipate. Another option is to wipe the hose, handle, and wand with a dryer sheet.
