How to Change Central Vacuum Bag

How to Change Central Vacuum Bag

Central vacuum systems eliminate the need for moving a vacuum cleaner from place to place, but they also lower the number of times cleaner bags need to be changed. How often to change the central vacuum bag? Most central vacuum bags only require to be changed twice a year.

Step 1 – Take Out The Cover.

Take out the top cover of your central vacuum system cylinder unit. The cover will probably sit on top of the cylinder with no clasps – supported on weight to hold it in place.

Step 2 – Take Out The Seal.

When you check into the cylinder, you will see a rubber seal around the top of the paper bag. Free the seal and place it to one side.

Step 3 – Take Out The Bag.

The tab or loop is attached to the cloth bag that supports the paper bag so that you will be lifting both bags. Remove the bags entirely by lifting them straight up and out of the unit.

Step 4 - Detach The Bags

How to remove central vacuum bag? The paper bag in the cloth bag is supported in place by a flexible neck folded over the stiff frame in the neck of the cloth bag. Carefully pull and collect the neck of the paper bag. Tie it so that you don't have any debris from the bag as you move it. Pick up the paper bag by the neck and, if need be, pull the cloth bag down from around it.

Step 5 - Shake the Cloth Bag

Take the cloth bag off and shake it firmly to take out any loose dust particles.

Step 6 - Clean the Filters

At the base of the vacuum cylinder, there will be several filters. Take out these filters taking care to consider the order in which they were fitted and how they are set. Identify the top of the filter by the occurrence or lack of a weave pattern, depending upon the model and make. The filters require to be shaken and patted gently to be cleaned.

Step 7 - Replace the Filters

The filters are changed into the cylinder in the converse order, but the same way up as they were removed.

Step 8 - Place the Replacement Bag into the Cloth Bag

The replacement paper bag is pushed into the cloth bag, and the flexible neck is pulled down the outside of the cloth bag to fit under the stiff frame at the top.

Step 9 - Change the Bags

The top of the bags will be placed on a ridge in the cylinder, so they will only go in as far as is required. Ensure that the loop or tab of the cloth bag is left sticking up.

Step 10 - Change the Seal

The seal fits back around the top of the bags and is pressed home as firmly as possible.
